Yinon

Yinon appears in Psalm 72, a verse traditionally read as a messianic promise: may his name endure, may his name flourish. In Jewish thought the word became one of several esoteric names of the Messiah, which lends Yinon a quiet weight beneath its gentle surface. The sound is two yielding syllables, both beginning with a soft Y and curling around the long o in the middle. In modern Israel it is used without heavy religious freight, heard on soldiers, start-up founders, and schoolchildren alike. Mystical in lineage, easy in the mouth, it arrives like a name whispered from an older tradition into a newer one.
