Miloš

Milos, written Miloš with the soft caron, is built on the Slavic root mil, meaning dear, gracious, or beloved. It is a short, warm name that nonetheless hits like a drum, thanks to that hushed sh ending. Serbia has produced plenty of celebrated Milošes, from medieval princes to the inventor Nikola Teslas long-suffering brother, and the Czech film director Milos Forman brought it to Oscar stages with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus. In Serbia it remains a steady classic rather than a trend. Milos reads masculine and kind at once, strength softened by affection at the root.
