Aiden

A seventh-century Irish monk named Aedan carried his gospel to the wild coast of Northumbria and founded a monastery on Lindisfarne — his name came from the Old Irish aed, "fire," and the diminutive softened it to "little fire." Fifteen centuries later it lit up the American baby charts, spawned a rhyming dynasty of Brayden and Jayden and Kaden, and settled into the mainstream. Aiden now sits at rank 47 in the United States. Two bright syllables, the opening a long vowel that opens the mouth, the ending clean and fast. Modern in feel despite the very ancient ember at its core.
