Adalyn

Adalyn is a modern American invention built from old bones. Parents took Adelaide or Adeline, both from the Germanic adal meaning "noble," and gave the ending a contemporary Lyn twist, joining the wave of Madelyn, Jocelyn, and Evelyn spellings that defined the 2010s. It entered the top 250 around 2013 and has stayed there since. Three syllables, soft throughout, with the nickname Ada tucked inside like an heirloom locket. It feels both freshly coined and quietly ancestral, which is exactly the trick so many parents were after. A name for a daughter who will be both.
